Coastline Printing - was formed in 1982 when 3 well known and respected Illawarra Printers Ross Freestone, Phil and Barry Jackson purchased an existing printing business which at the time was operating in Third Avenue, Unanderra just off the Princes Highway.
A need to update all machinery was given a high priority and the first Heidelberg GTO was purchased after only six months of operation. The first full time employee, the office secretary started in January 1984.
Rapid growth continued and further equipment was updated, including a large single colour printing press, new process camera, film processor and typesetting equipment, plus the addition of an automatic folding machine.
A major magazine contract led to further growth and staff expansion. In 1987 growth forced the movement of all the pre-press section into rented premises on the corner of Princes Highway and Third Avenue.
This operation continued for several years, but with the addition of a collator/stitcher/trimmer machine, new, larger premises became a major objective. After viewing a number of factory sites the decision was made to purchase a block of land in the Unanderra Industrial Estate at Lady Penrhyn Drive in June 1990. Construction commenced late 1990 and in March 1991 Coastline Printing was relocated.
Despite the difficulties of the recession in 1992, Coastline continued to grow and in 1994-95 undertook a comprehensive Quality Assurance programme which culminated in the awarding of Quality Accreditation under Benchmark Certification. Coastline continues to monitor its QA system with a stringent set of Quality Checks at all production steps.
Coastline is continually upgrading its equipment and is the leader in innovation in the Illawarra, having recently installed a complete environmentally friendly plate processing system. The system is an all-in-one package, including Kodak Thermal Direct non-process plates and Printergy Evo workflow software. Stay tuned for further NEW Services available from Coastline Printing.
